09.04.2024 - Played a show and more!

Dumped a few more trax for you! Two are of particular interest: hakkuh2.mod (download) is a gabber/hardcore track (more or less). Inflicting that on you because it's kind of hard to avoid that sort of cross-pollination if you're into the early rave scene at all. This one is a little weird, try to keep up with the tempo.

Fifth age (download) will sound a little sparse on a first listen because it is intentionally missing a few of the parts you would normally hear during performance. That's because I got to play a show locally and wrote it to be accompanied by some other synths/hardware! I didn't get a chance to record (it was kind of an improvisation anyways) but I got the chance to show the site to a few folks and so want to put this up here so that others have a chance to see how modules work behind the scenes, sort of. I might dive into how that performance worked and put up some photos later on--I'm really invested in figuring out how to perform modules live, something that I think has kind of always dogged the mod scene.

07.29.2024 - Newstyle

New mods are up! Latest batch marks a shift in the way I'm producing, and a little uncertainty about what I'm trying to accomplish and how.

Metaball was amazing to put together, and thank you so much to everybody who has supported it so far! But with a big LP release out the door and enough tracks in the pipe to basically fill a few EPs, I'm left kind of sitting on future releases for a couple more weeks/months at least--the alternative is releasing a constant churn of hit-or-miss tracks (which is the purpose of this site, as opposed to a Bandcamp or label release). I set up this page as a way to track my progress, where the idea was to actually finish the tracks I started and then get them out there so that people could listen to them rather than just piling up in a folder on my HDD (which reminds me that I should probably actually make a post about the how and why of my kind of idiosyncratic release methods).

Anyways, what this all means is that without the pressure to finish a big project or prepare new material (since I'm sitting on a bunch already), I've found myself playing around with much shorter tracks (in some cases just a minute long--YouTube videos and shorts on other sites showcasing tracker music seem to really go for this length in particular, and it works!).

I went back and forth on whether to post these since they're almost more like sketches than full tracks, but I think there's a pretty interesting sound coming together that points towards something with much more potential further down the road and I thought you should have the chance to hear it. This is a "newstyle"--not yet fully formed, more of a study than anything. Enjoy for what it's worth.

05.28.2024 - Metaball LP

Over on my Bandcamp page I've released my first full-length album! It's pay-what-you-want and includes both audio files and the tracker modules used to produce the tracks.

If you've been following the releases at this site, you've probably encountered most of the tracks already, since they've all been released here in tracker format, but for this release I decided to dub the tracks to a Technics cassette deck! This was kind of an experiment, and if you prefer the straight audio files you can always just export them from the tracker modules themselves (or get in touch and I'll provide them).

Enjoy! Thanks for listening and I appreciate everybody's support.

05.13.2024 - 30 Trax

After today's upload I counted the number of files that I've put up so far and to my surprise we just hit 30 hardcore trax uploaded!! While I programmed some of them as far back as July of last year, I only got serious about putting together this site in January of this year. So in the past five months and change I'm counting that as thirty full tracks uploaded here. That's an average of 1 track ready to upload roughly every 4.5ish days--and that's not counting the ones you don't get to see.

The secret here is that I've been pushing myself to just finish basically whatever I start, and I've been very happy with the results so far, but I'm not sure this is the best policy going forwards. I like all of the music that I put up here, and I wanted to start uploading as much to share it as to be able to look back and show a clear, chronological progression in the growth of my programming/composition. Maybe that is or isn't evident to you as a listener, I don't know.

Anyways, I'm going to keep on going for now but we'll see if I want to change course sometime in the near future. Thanks for listening and checking out this site!

04.14.2024 - Protracker & Modfiles!

You should see the main page & RSS feed fill up with about 9 new tracks! Among them, a couple of Protracker modules! I got curious about 8bitbubsy's clone of the old Amiga software (check it out here). I took some inspiration from Stekker (one of the guys responsible for the amazing Amigo VST sampler that can give you a similar experience if trackers themselves scare you) and gave it a spin with some very simple but imo pretty enjoyable jungle tracks.

Can't say for sure how well they'll play back in media players, Milkytracker, or the like--for the best experience, check out the PT2 software and play them there.

03.02.2024 - Jungle Fatigue

I submitted a track to the latest round of the Jungle Fatigue compilation! If you like the music here you'll definitely like those albums as well. I'm still learning and not too hopeful that it'll make it, but it helps me set some worthwhile goals.

I can't upload the track itself yet but I've got a few more tracks up there as well. Check them out!

01.29.2024 - Redesign!

It feels like it took forever, but I’m finally pretty happy with the layout and design of this site. This site exists mostly as a way to create and distribute tracker modules, but I’ve got a lot of other interests and over time I’ll find ways to incorporate them. I want to connect with other users and webmasters, and so you shouldn’t hesitate to reach me at the address I’ve set up for that purpose.

2024 is off to a great start, and I’ve got several more tracks that I’m feeling very good about coming soon. I’ll use this page as a way of organizing text and blog posts, if you’d like to see more or keep up with the module releases then be sure to subscribe to the site’s RSS feed and check out my Neocities profile.
